The sea breeze that cools Newcastle fades before it gets this far up the river. Out here the low western sun is the one to beat, and shutters beat it without going dark: tilt the blades and the glare stops at the window while the light and the air keep moving.

The window that decides your summer faces west
Ask anyone in Rutherford or Gillieston Heights what happens to the living room at five o'clock in January. The sun comes in low, flat and hot, straight past the neighbour's roofline, onto the screen and across the floor. Blockout blinds fix it by turning the lights on. Shutters fix it by tilting: the blade catches the low sun, the light stays soft, and the breeze keeps coming through.
We fit shutters for exactly this, window by window: the blade width, the tilt, and the material chosen for how your room takes its light, whether that is a new build with a wall of west glass or a Lorn cottage with sash windows that deserve better than a venetian.

The lead act. Wide blades and hidden tilt across the glass that takes the afternoon: living rooms, stacker doors, home theatres that would like to stay theatres at 5pm. On a west-facing room we will usually recommend a wider blade tilted up, because it kills the glare without losing the yard.

Powder-coated for UV
Maitland's heat argument, answered outside the glass. Powder-coated aluminium shutters on the alfresco or the western wall stop the sun before it ever reaches the room, and they wear the UV that would tire a lesser blade. Inside, aluminium earns its keep where strength matters across wide spans.

Bathrooms, laundries and kitchen windows want privacy with their light, and a blade that shrugs off steam. Waterproof PVC with an aluminium core is the honest answer, and often the first room people start with.

Measured, made, fitted
1. The free measure
We come to you, measure every opening properly, and talk through blade widths, tilt and material with samples in your own light. You get a written quote and a straight recommendation, no obligation.
2. The making
Every panel is made to your windows, not cut down from stock. Timelines depend on the material and the making, so we give you a real date at the measure rather than a guessed one here.
3. The fit
Fitted square, tested through their full tilt, and left clean. We walk you round every window before we call it done, and the blades should move as one from the first touch.
