Guidance, not a quote

Everything on this site, including the 5pm Test and the guides, is general guidance to help you think about window coverings. It is not a quote, a promise about your specific windows, or professional advice about your building. Shutters here are made to measure, so any real price, timeline or specification comes from an in-home measure and a written quote, and only the written quote binds anyone to anything. That is why no prices appear anywhere on this site: a dollar figure quoted before anyone has stood at your window would just be a guess.

Some images on this site are illustrative, including stock and generated imagery, and depict the style of work rather than a specific completed job at a specific address. Sample blades and finishes shown at your measure are the reliable reference for how a product will look in your home.

Where the site links to external sources such as government or council guidance, those pages belong to their publishers and can change without our knowledge. Check the current version before relying on it; rules, funds and requirements move.

The advice on this site is written for homes in the Maitland LGA and the inland Hunter, from Rutherford and the growth corridors out to Lorn and Morpeth, where the western sun does most of the damage. If you are reading from somewhere with a sea breeze, the principles hold but the emphasis will differ.

Doing your own checks

Heritage controls, strata rules and tenancy permissions vary by street, building and lease. The site flags where they can apply, but confirming what applies to your property is your call to make with the relevant authority or owner before work is ordered.
