Two minutes, no price, no strings

The 5pm Test: which shutters suit your room's light

Every window in Maitland has an hour it dreads, and for most of them it is five o'clock on a summer afternoon. Tell us which way the room faces and what the sun is ruining, and we will tell you what we would fit, and why.

1.Which way does the room's biggest glass face?
2.Which room are we talking about?
3.How old is the home?
4.What is the sun ruining? (pick any)
5pm

5pm, blades open: the low western sun runs the depth of the room, straight onto the screen.

What the test can't do

It can't see your reveals, your architraves, or how far out of square a 1890s opening has drifted, and it can't price a panel nobody has measured. That is what the free in-home measure is for: we check every opening, bring blade samples into your actual light, and leave you a written quote. If the test's suggestion turns out wrong for your windows, we will say so at the measure and tell you what we would do instead.

Want the longer thinking behind the suggestions? Start with the west-facing room, or the honest comparison of shutters and blockout blinds for heat and glare.

Free in-home measure & quote

The measure is free. The advice comes with it.

Every window here is made to measure, so an accurate price only exists after we have seen your windows and your light. Tell us about the rooms you are thinking about and we will arrange a time, measure each opening, and leave you with a written quote and a straight recommendation. No obligation either way.
